I have no personal experience buying from Coast to Coast. However, my freind the 88 year old collector purchased a complete set of uncirculated Indian cents from them many years ago. He bought them over time. He was content with the red coins until he went to sell them & found that nobody would pay more than AU money for any of them. He then sent the best ones to a TPG & they came back in body bags for cleaning. This experience basically cured my old friend from collecting MS USA material. He has focused his collecting energy & money eleswhere.
CORRECTION TO MY OWN POST ABOVE. I JUST NOTICED A TYPO - WHEN I TYPED "UNC" I MEAN TO TYPE "AU". Their UNC coins are AU at best, body bagged at worst . . . .and all crap. Sent in 39 more for grading (only because I want to sell the crap for the grades they really are, not misrepresent them like Coast to Coast) and should get back in a couple weeks. I imagine a bunch will be body bagged, and a bunch will be AU . . . .I'll sell them off for a small fraction of what my dad got swindled for. Didn't want that typo above to imply any of their crap was really UNC !!!!!!!!!
I do buy ASE from them, if the price is right, as ther shipping is a lot less than the PM dealers. That being said I see they re now offering coins graded by NGC and PCGS, not that I would order these from them as I like to see the coin first. I have bought coins site unseen but from RCNH, and have not been disappointed.
Speaking of coin magazine advertizers, does anyone have experience buying from Enjoy Coins? They are another monthly advertizer in Coinage.
I purchased a 1849-D $5.00 coin NGC AU55. On 11-6-18 I suspected something wrong. I sent it to PCGS and it was returned as CLEANED. It is in it's original holder. I contacted the owner on 12-20-18 of Coast To Coast and he refused any kind of refund or restitution. I would never deal with this establishment again. This was a $ 4125.00 coin. I think some dealers make a business of finding improper graded coins especially from NGC and buy them at auctions for a really good price and sell them off to collectors like myself that put faith in both dealers and grading institutions. Maybe these dealers like Coast to Coast hope that these collectors put them away for years and then some day realize they aren't what as described. It's another racket to make money.
Your fight is with NGC, not Coast to Coast. They are the ones who declared the coin was market acceptable. Send it to them under their guarantee.
I bought from them once. I was young and very inexperienced. The coin was low priced but even then I knew never to buy from them. Why you ask? Because the coin was not what they claimed it to be. There are numerous of dealers that are honest and willing to please you. Pass on these guys, you'll be glad you did.
They clearly state on their website they offer a 14 day return privilege. They should not be expected to accept a return after 6 weeks just because it didn't cross. If you suspected something wrong you should have returned it instead of sending off to PCGS. I can say some negative stuff about Coast to Coast (namely I think they are stupidly overpriced 99% of the time) but in this instance they did nothing wrong. If you take it as a learning experience and improve your skills identifying what original old gold should look like (Doug Winter's site is a great place to start) you can salvage the situation a bit. Post pictures of the coin if you have them can be good for others to learn from as well.
Necromonger thread...... Coast to Coast radio.......that's the ticket. Those folks are 'way' nuts...........and I'm nuts for listening to them on 'late nite'.
A great rock instrumental Michael Schenker wrote this song and gave it to his brother Rudolph in the Scorpions as a gift along with a few other songs (Holiday for one, off the top of my head) and never got any credit for it and now they don't get along and I'm guessing he wishes he could take back his gifts
And that intro reminds me of a Deep Purple song that I can't put my finger on. It might be Perfect Strangers? Has that Jon Lord sound big time
