I have a one sided quater (head) with a nickel (tails) stamped over the head. There is no date, and it is half the thickness of a true quarter. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this peice.

I think someone just took a nickel, a quarter, and a vise and had some fun with it. Notice that the words from the nickel are reversed/mirror image of what they should be.

Welcome to the neighborhood, @Laurafrank90 !

It's post-mint damage. Note that "CENTS" is spelled backwards. It means that someone either used a vise or hammered the reverse of a nickel into the quarter.
