As far as I know the U S mint doesn't make those. You have a chunk of silver made by a private mint. Is the purity stamped on it?

Invisible bird..... I'm guessing what we aren't looking at is one of the 1 lb. Medals designed like a ASE. So what you have is a pound of spot.

If it is real you have twelve ounces of silver.

No these were minted back in 1998-2000 I believe I had two and when silver went vertical I sold both. They even came in an airtight like capsule

Is it a troy or AVDP pound?

It probably is troy. I have one struck in 1992. There should be a COA with it and the original box as well. I also have the original obverse die that struck the bullion, in perfect condition. It was never defaced which most are. It's even serial numbered so you know which strike it was.

    Where would serial number be?

On the third side of the bullion piece. They leave an area flat instead of reeding the entire edge. They strike the serial number there.
