    Dear all:

I want to show one of the best additions to my collection of the last years, a coin of Flavius Odoacer, who overthrow the last Western Roman Emperor, the young Romulus Augustus, nicknamed Augustulus (little emperor) in 476 AD.
Odoacer, made himself King of Italy, and recognizing the supremacy of the emperor in Constantinople, Zeno, over the Western Empire.
Relationships between Odoacer and Eastern Empire get worse, and in 489 AD, with Zeno's support, Theodoric invaded Odoacer's reign, and finally kill him in 493 AD.

    Now.. the coin!!

That's sweet => man, I love seeing coins from the 5th century AD (I only have a couple and they're not nearly as cool as your OP-example) ... congrats, V-anvs

I remember one time, I think in the early 80s, when Empire Coins offered one for $100 in a fixed price list. I live in the northwest and mail got to me a bit later than it did to the east and midwest (He was in Florida). Anyway, it didn't take me anytime at all to decide I wanted it. I called immediately. The exasperated dealer told me he had already had twenty orders for that one coin.

    I still don't have one.

Very nice! And the future Greg will be jelly if he decides to expand his portrait series to the post-476AD rulers of Rome.

It is hard to get into this tiny little sleeve buttons...however, when you stumble upon a beauty like your OP, one has to yield and like them. Specially when it´s so full of history.;)

To find an Odoacer with nearly full legend borders on the impossible.
It takes a lot to make me jealous but that coin does it.

This coin is very much out of my area of expertise, but even I can recognise this a tremendous addition. It's always such a great feeling to add such a corner-stone coin to one's collection. Hearty congrats!
