I have a collection of Leprosy colony coins from Brazil, Columbia, Venezuela, Philippines, etc but I didn't want to side-track this thread. I know that I made a Leprosy colony coin thread once but can't seem to find it at CT using the search feature. Conder101 had posted some Leprosy coin photos but I can't locate them right now either.

In MHO I believe that most all older collectable coins have been cleaned at one time or another. If you see an old coin that looks AU or better, look for wear.

That is a nice coin, lots of history behind it. I find that collecting coins due to history is more rewarding than thinking investment, but thats just me. And speaking of which I was just looking at an old Bohemian coin the other day.

I agree with you completely, I collect small pieces of history and art. I try NEVER to get caught up it the investment aspect of collecting. It's just not all that interesting to me. Holding something from the 14th century is worth a whole lot more in my book.
