As I said I went to a coin show in the area here. We have a coin show at this place called Countryside, Illinois evey second Sunday of the Month. The one today wasn't a little disapointing at first. Only about half the normal amount of dealers at 9AM when I arrived which was still at leasr 50 or more. However, as the morning progressed, more dealers must have finished their breakfast and came there. Almost full by the time I left at about 11AM. Now as to the 31D Mercury Dime. As I previously noted, none of mine appeared to be in what I normally would like in my sets so I went there with the intent of being able to say on this forum that they are common in all grades. HOWEVER, much to my surprise I could hardly find any at all in any grade.

One dealer that knows me well said he had put aside a bunch of Mercury Dimes for me to look at before the crowd got bigger and they would vanish. He was right he did have quite a few for me. I ended up buying 16S, 18S, 20D, 26S, 27S, 28D, 31S and a few in the late 30's but no 31D most in AU or better. The cost was close to $1,000. I think I'm making up for when I was a kid and a ten dollar bill was something people talked about but seldom seen.

Again, the only 31D's I did see were in less than what I would consider a G4 or less. Now I've got something to drive me nuts over. I never realized how rare that coin may be becoming. Well we have another coin show coming up next weekend in a town called Itasca so maybe there.

Oh to be a kid again back in the good old days only this time to have the money to buy up all the coins I want today.
