Fascinating piece of history! I would love to own one, but I suppose the one you photographed costs around $2000.

$2k would be dirt cheap for this. These coins are usually $3-8K.

What is a fair price for a silver like Darius style coin?

I paid approximately $60 including shipping for this one:

I have a few Sigloi and Sigloi Fractionals, covering the Persian Achaemenid Period, until Philip II and Alexander III of Makedon said that that was ENOUGH!

Even a contemporary FAKE - people were stealing even as the concept of coins were first being used.

THEN: Philip II said that was ENOUGH that Achaemenid Persia had consistenty interferred or invaded or occupied Makedon. Philip II REBUILT his Country into a Nation, TOTALLY rebuilt and trained the Army and Cavalry with innovative armaments and tactics. Acquired Silver and Gold mines to build a huge treasury. He was cut down by an assassin before he could personally implement his strategy on Persia:

After Philip II was murdered, Alexander III who was young, was well-trained, and was in lock-step with his Father's plans, went on to prosecute Philip II's plans to destroy Persia:

The daric is a sweet coin! There's nothing like holding 8+ grams of ancient gold in your hands!

Here's my bro's (sellers pics because my photography sucks. :p)
