Second time today I didn’t look at the whole coin. @Kevin Mader Maybe this? http://varietyvista.com/01a LC Doubled Dies Vol 1/1945DDDO001.htm
I think that Marie's coin might have a ding on the MM, upper serif. But I think it's the 001 all around. VV, Wexler, and Coppercoins.
@Marie909 - There is a touch of surface verdigris on the obverse by the rim. You'll want to stabilize that. But don't clean it. Fun find worth about $5.
Looks like it. Check out the die marker in the upper hair and the mm placement. http://varietyvista.com/01a LC Doubled Dies Vol 1/1945DDDO001.htm
So. My first dd and more to learn, why don't I see a double image, I see the wider images, how did it "double strike" and no separation in a image as it usually does?
Not double strike, doubled die. Not all doubled dies show separation in the devices. I know this is tough to understand until you truly understand the minting process. http://doubleddie.com/58201.html Check this out and look at all the doubled dies on this site to help with the different appearances and the different die states. Also check out: http://varietyvista.com/index.htm http://www.coppercoins.com/advsearch.php Hope this helps.
Finding Doubled Dies gets easier when you know what to look for. This is a Class 6 Doubled Die. Read this first...but then read the other classes and how they are produced. http://doubleddie.com/203948.html
