One More for My Birth Year Set (1941)

For quite a few years I've been working on a Birth Year set of world coins.
It's not a primary set for me: just a fun thing.
    I'll never complete it.

There are some high priced coins that I don't even think about:
    -- Vatican gold
    -- Germany military
    -- Others

And there are some that the Krause World Coins catalog doesn't describe very well:
    -- Peru 2 centavos varieties
-- Thick and thin planchet varieties.
    -- Others

But it gives me something to look around for when things are slow.
But I have about 300 coins so far.

Here's the latest AND the last one I needed for Germany (not including the aforementioned Germany military issues).

    Germany 1941-J 50 Pfennigs

That's a really cool idea. Love the coin. Are you just trying to get one example of each coin type?

I'm trying to get an example of ALL the coins struck in 1941.
And I know full well that I won't get all; some are just too pricey.
But I can afford about 90-95% of them.
And there are a few that I have to dig a bit deeper into the wallet for.
The four coin 1941 Maundy set from Great Britain is one group of those.

It's a fun idea. Dunno why I never really pursued it. My birthyear is 1965, which means a lot fewer silver business strike coins. On the other hand, a lot of former colonies had gained independence by the time I came along, so I guess I might have a lot more different countries/varieties than you do for 1941 (maybe?)

I did add a toned US cent and nickel recently. Simply because I thought the cent was attractive. (The nickel was cheap and came as part of a small lot I bought.)

Sounds like a fun collection. I pick up coins from my birth year (1970) when I see them but I don't really look for them.

On the occasion, I will pick up certain foreign coins I like, and if they're from my birth year it adds a fun, bonus to the piece.

P.S. that cent and nickel are really nice.

Can you PM me of either what you have or need for German military 1941? I will take a look for you.

I don't know what they look like.
Krause has a picture of only one side and it's so bad I still don't know what it looks like.
    BUT
There are two face values each with the same two mint marks:
    5 Reichspfennigs 1941 A and 1941 F
    10 Reichspfennigs 1941 A and 1941 F

In low grade they are 3-figure coins.
In high grade they are 5-figure coins.

A bit more than I care to spend on a "fun" collection.

Just to confirm, all you are missing are the 5 and 10 rechenpfennig coins with A and F mint marks? Nothing else?

I've got all the regular issues, just not the military ones.
And like I said, I don't even know what they look like.
I might do a quick surf job to see what, if anything, shows up.

Ah, I see. I'm afraid I can't help there. Shooting you a PM with my 1941 coins to see if you need any of them.

Is it your plan to create a display (such as in a frame) for your unique set?

    No.
Too many coins; it would take up too much room.

At least you don't have to deal with all of the bullion coins from my birth date. It would be neat if you had a list that others on CT could see if they had any 1941s to help you out!
