I have a feeling that one of these will be commemorated with a coin soon. In 1912, Arizona was admitted to the Union as the 48th state. And in 1817 Frederick Douglass was born in Cordova, Maryland
Frederick Douglass' family could not imagine having a 50 cent piece of their own. I'm not even sure if the enslaved could legally possess hard cash.
