For the OP and anyone else interested in a brief but interesting overview of the coinage of Caracalla, Oliver Hoover recently uploaded an article of his published in Ancient History Magazine, The Advice of Severus as Reflected in Coinage: Caracalla's Coins. You can read or download it at academia.edu here. (It's free to join academia.edu.)

I've also attached the pdf article to this post, as it's a fairly small file.

    Today this coin arrived:
    CaraSEVERIo.jpg CaraSEVERIr.jpg
    Caracalla. 200-201 AD.
Denarius. 19 mm. 2.24 grams. 6:00 die axis.
    ANTONINVS AVGVSTVS
    SEVERI PII AVG FIL
Emperor standing left in military dress holding Victory on globe and reversed spear, with captive at feet left.
Bust laureate, draped, and cuirassed (see the dotted ends of the cuirass) seen from the side, very slightly from the rear.
Sear 6749 page 512. RIC 45, mint of Rome, page 219. Hill dates it to late 199, but Hill's dating is not accepted by everyone.

Now there's a Caracalla issue you don't see every day. Very nice!
