Wow that struck a nerve. I will admit when I first started collecting I learned alot about coins from looking through a Littleton catalog. I was just collecting pocket change and what not, keep in mind. I had no idea of the diversity out there. I think that is the apeal to the collector, they have a nice website, catalog, and programs where they almost do the hobby for you...if you aren't sure what to collect, Littleton has a coin of the month deal for you...well maybe deal isn't the word some members would use. I guess if you want nice coins and don't care how much you pay, the convience and fun of a program like that must seem worth it. Part of my "fun" is bargain hunting, so Littleton and I said "Hello, goodbye" without my making a purchase. I just had to vent because the prices in that catalog just got me aggitated. Guess I'm not alone.
Got their State Quarter ad on my Amex return envelope. I filed it under G. That's garbage if you're curious.
Actually I used to buy a lot of things from them when I was younger. I was well aware of their prices but I figured that with their huge inventory and fairly good quality that I'd pay the prices. Of course now with the internet (and that I have much less money) I wouldn't buy a thing from them. I don't hate them but I don't think they're the best place to get things, at least not if you're looking for a deal.
I have bought their promotional coins, but not at regular prices...no way! I mailed a reply asking if they would like to buy some of mine at half their price...no takers...
