woohoo. Late night adventure at work. Just pulled 6 rolls of cents to fill up the registers. 1890. Oldest one from a roll now. First was 1909. Second was 1906. Third is 1890. I can't wait to find that fourth. Came from a Loomis roll. Sorry for the extreme level of excitement.
Nice find . I like to leave beat up or worn IHCs and Buffalo nickels where kids can find them and hopefully get interested in collecting . I wonder if some collector was doing the same thing salting some rolls as there's no way it's been in circulation from that date .
I was thinking the same. The LCS is only 5 miles from the restaurant. Rolls came from a bank. I swear if my LCS is salting my rolls for the restaurant I would be ticked and tickled at the same time. I am thinking grandma stuck one or two in a glass jar and they have been in circulation for a very short time. Also being crimped in brinks rolls I am also guessing they could have come from anywhere who knows. All I know is the puck stops here and at the cost of $0.01.
I swore to myself, I will not stop buying pennies until I find a IHC. I got close, a 1919S which was worth about 40c on what it looked like. ten year difference, it really got me going and believing I could find one.
I always thought I'd find a 1909-S-VDB in circulation . Never did but you never know . At least it was somewhat feasible as wheaties were in circulation till the '60s and we were still finding them regularly in the '70s . So we both have our work cut out for us .
