We were a large Military hub and all sorts of coins turned up. Wheaties,an occassional indian head , Quarters halves and silver dollars. I always remember searching the sofa for coins. My uncle use to come to visit and would bring me a coin or two in a cardboard holder. He liked the bay area because of the mint and the change traffic. He would buy coins at the court house from probate sales. They bid and if they got the coins it was usually a dollar or two from face value. Not much of that now.
