I think both are accurately graded. The XF-45 looks like it has a little luster still out around the rims on the obverse. The reverse is what looks the worst for wear. But I'd still agree with the XF45.
I could go with XF on the second piece.......But my opinion and 10 cents won't get ya a cup of coffee anymore.
I really like some of the old white ANAC's slabs - sometimes you get accurately grade coins pretty cheap. Some of them are good crossover coins. Personally I think the first one is correct, but the second one is probably a little higher than I would go. Good Luck on the crossover. Just my nickel worth of opinion.
Once again I hunt for these slabs at shows...... and most probably would pull the trigger on a coin in one then pcgs or ngc. As other's have voiced I tend to believe that there can be some sweet finds in the older slabs. And not only Anacs slabs...... and this is coming from someone who would 90% of the time would buy a raw specimen before a graded one.
NOW, the REAL reason I started this thread. I'm selling off my 20th century keys/semi-keys. I sold a lot of them at the April Whitman show in Baltimore. But these two didn't generate much interest, i.e., I got no offers. The reason I got from a couple dealers was that there wasn't much buyer interest in them; they weren't selling. I'm going to cross them over through NGC and see if that helps. And I have one or two more coins with the same problem. I just wanted to get a feeling that I won't lose much in the process.
NGC wont cross them only PCGS allows crosses from ANACS. NGC will break them out and grade them raw. That first one has a slight change of getting details for that gouge behind the head depending on how bad that is in person.
Kanga, Why don't you list them below to see if any members here would be of interest ? As when you cross them there is a surcharge of the value they charge. Not trying to tell you what to do just a thought......good luck.
