I picked this up yesterday at an auction. It's of no practical use but I thought it was cool and worth the $4 I paid for it.

It's copyrighted 1938, so it's rather old. Of course there are no Morgan quarters - yes, some pattern pieces exist in 25¢ and 50¢ denominations with the Morgan dollar design - but they are just patterns.

I'm not sure why the folks at Whitman chose to call these Morgan quarters, as they even cite on the back that Charles Barber designed the coins.

1938 appears to be an anachronism........

Oh, it could have been produced in the 1930's or 40's, which would make it even more odd, as Barber Quarter would have been in common use by then.

Maybe they didnt call them Barber quarters back in 1938? They probably just called them- quarters

That's neat. Certainly worth $4.00 in my opinion.

I'm not sure which would have been angrier at this, Barber or Morgan...

About 2 years ago, I came across a Indian head cent one just like it.
