Old Swedish coins.

    Old Swedish coins - is one of a favorite parts of my collection. Why? Because it"s very nice, very big! They are... VERY (do You understad WHAT i mean?)
    So i show You my favorite coins.:goofer:

    You can see 2 coins: 1/4 ore 1634 and 1/4 ore 1635. Copper. Notice: each coin have a different crown from other coin. Cristina the Queen was a Swedish ruler in that time.

    1 ore 1735, copper. Fredric I the king. He was unpopular and lazy ruler. Depraved and drunkard. He made war against Russian Empire and lost. One of a worst kings in Swedish history.

    1/4 skilling 1800, copper.
    1/4 skilling 1802, copper.
    You can see it"s different design. This coins was made during Gustavus IV Adolphus"s reign. He was a not bad ruler, but he made war against Russian Empire too (1808-1809). And he lost too. After that Russians conquerred Finland. Finland become a Grand Duchy within the Russian Empire.

    Carl XIV Johan become a king in 1818. His real name was Jean Batist Jules Bernadot. Ye was born in France in 1763. His father was a lawyer. Jean Batist become a soldier in 1780 (French royal army); several years after he become a sergeant.
    During the Great French Revolution he become a second lieutenant (1791). But it was a great times - 3 years after he become a brigade"s general!
    In 1798 - first half of 1799 Bernadot was a French ambassador in Austria. In July 1799 he become a military minister of France. In 1804 he become a governor of Hannover (The Kingdom of Hannover was occupied by French troops). In 1807 - governor of Nothern Germany. In 1810 Carl XIII (swedish king) adopted him and in 1818 (after the death of Carl XIII) Bernadot become a King as Carl XIV Johan!!!

    Oskar II become a Swedish king in 1844 (after death of his father). He was born in France too. His reign was calm. He was very popular in Sweden. Oskar II died in 1859.

    Carl XV become a king in 1859. He was a son of Oscar II the king. Carl XV reformed Swedish legislatoin. He was a good king and kind man.
    You see 2 ore 1862, bronze, 213000 coins of this type.

    Thank you for showing us your Swedish coins and the history lesson. I am of Swedish ancestry. My grand parents immigrated to the USA in 1896.

    Again some lovely coins :high5: I think I have 3 in my collection LOL the earliest I know is 1923 :eek: nothing to compare to yours LOL

    LOL is a short way of saying "laugh out loud". As far as I know, there's not an equivalent term in Russian.

    After seeing these coins I feel the need to post my own three favourite swedes:

    1 Ör 1669 (copper, 46mm)

    1 Daler 1776 (silver, 41mm)

    2 Mark 1683 (silver, 30mm)

    If I may correct you: Oscar II became King of Sweden 1872 and ruled until 1907 (in addition he was King of Norway 1872-1905). Oscar I ruled Sweden (and Norway) 1844-59.
