I like world coinage for the same reasons you do. I have a lot of different countries that make up my background, and when I handle coinage from their countries from before they came to the US, I wonder if they may have handled it. I don't have any Spanish blood (that I know of) but I enjoyed seeing the coins. I do have one of the 1870 copper centavos that you posted but it is very worn, it's also one of the only European 1800s coins in my collection, I have less then 10.
Wow great collection, and areally good history lesson! The only one of those that I have is a 1795 2-Real that I have had for about 15 years. Once again, thank you for sharing...
General Francisco Franco was the dictator of Spain during 1939-1975. He was a fascist. He called himself as "Caudillo" that means "Chieftain". During the WW II Spain was neutral state (formal), but in fact, Spain was an ally of Germany.
A great selection and a very good potted history of Spain :smile Just to add a couple one from a much earlier period and a modern one :hail: After 104 BC Ilergetes Iberian Celts Ceca Iltirta Male bust right, three dolphins swimming around Horseman galloping right Found 50K east of Foix Ariege, France 8.92g Vill 179.29 2006 12 Euros 500th anniversery of the voyages of Cristobal Colon (Christopher Columbus) Globe, ships & Colon Jan Carlos & Sofia
Well done Siberian man. You really have some coins from EVERY country. That is what a world collection is all about.
