For comparison, a coin in what appears to be EF (and unslabbed) was appraised at about 150 euros, or roughly $200. </p><p><br /></p><p><a href="http://www.forum-numismatica.com/viewtopic.php?style=2&f=4&t=48539" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="http://www.forum-numismatica.com/viewtopic.php?style=2&f=4&t=48539" rel="nofollow">http://www.forum-numismatica.com/viewtopic.php?style=2&f=4&t=48539</a></p><p><br /></p><p>A 400 reis coin from 1720 in a January 2010 Heritage auction went unsold (listed as VF, but looks AU). </p><p><br /></p><p><a href="http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=3007&LotIdNo=1041" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=3007&LotIdNo=1041" rel="nofollow">http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=3007&LotIdNo=1041</a></p><p><br /></p><p>What it comes down to then is, basically, how badly you want that particular coin, how much discretionary income you are willing to lock up in it for several years, and whether or not you are expecting to make a return on your investment.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
