One hard cover goes onto a shelf in a book case with all the others also not opened. </p><p>Inspite of the listings in the present Red Book, 2011 version on pages 408 to 411, old Red and Blue books show up in used book stores and flea markets all the time for usually $1 or about that. I&#039;ve seen one seller ar a flea market with about 100 Red Books and all in the area of the 20th to 30th Editions for $1 each. All were hard covers and most look new. There are some with missing pages and one with an upside down page that are supposed to be worth a lot too. I think Whitman is getting carried away with all those special editions like Leather covers, large printed versions, etc. </p><p>The only time I open an older version is when someone on a coin forum asks how much was a certain coin way, way back.
