Here's a nice check from an American manufacturing company with quite a history and lots of really great machines.

This is quite a check (actually a promissory note)
1. Three railroads !!
2. Native American vignette !!
3. TWO railroad corporate seals !!

Nice example of an ABNCo product for a prolific banknote issuing bank; don't have any banknotes but do have one of their checks.

I stumbled across this site today, looking for info on the web for the printing/stationers company that my great-grandfather, Edwin Bennett Young, founded in Baltimore in 1888. It advertised itself as doing printing for presidents, at least from McKinley through Harding. My great-grandfather died in 1944, his son in 1964, and I think the company was (or had been) absorbed by another company in the 60s.

 

Here is a prosperity check given to my great great grandparents in 1892.

And the $75,000 is about $1.8 million today

 

Who is the payee? McGinnis Brothers and ? Have you tried to google them to see what kind of business they were? If you can make out the last name. Gearing? Bearing? Pretty neat.
