Ok, I'm getting yelled at for spending $12.50 on a penny!!

Ya know Weasel, my wife almost handed me my head when she found out what I paid for (from the mint) an 2009 ultra high relief St. Gaudens.........that is, till today when she see's what they go for in the aftermarket. She now pretty much trusts my judgement in what I like to collect.

To be honest, just admit to your GF she is right. You can explain all you want, you can argue all you want and you can show her whatever amount its going for. Admitting she's right and getting her a small gift is the best and easiest way to getting along.

 

I learned long ago, my wife is always right and I'm always wrong. This is why we have our own monthly entertainment funds so each of us can't complain about what the other one buys with their money. My wife might think I'm crazy for spending $20 on a penny but I think she's crazy spending $20 on eye liner but we don't complain since we established the rules already that each can buy whatever they want with their own monthly allowance.

mine too until I bought the 2007 1/4 ounce Buffalo. Now she just trusts me as well.

 

on the topic of the OPs coin, it looks to be corroded very badly. I don't think that a coin with that kind of damage is worth the $17.50. I'd rather spend twice that on a filler coin that is problem free

 

well we will see in a day or 2 when the coin arrives, but I have bought other coins from this seller and have yet to be disapointed.

 

I too have bought from this seller before but be careful, I've seen coins he's listed that were clearly improperly cleaned without any mentioning of such cleaning, etc.

 

this coin doesn't look cleaned it looks badly corroded which is even worse

Normally my wife isn't around when I open coins, today she saw me open a coin that was $10. I was actually surprised she didn't say something (even though $10 is a cheap coin by my standards).

 

Just got back from stomping 'round upstate NY and found a Star Spangled Banner gold commem in with the mail......wife didn't flinch one bit when I told her the price........poor dear.

 

Not to break up a nice relationship at all, but go through her closet. Clothes cost a lot of money!

But, the coin does look nice, but does have hints of corrosion. I'd probably pay $18 for it.

 

Just remember. You're ok until one of these words or phrases come out.
