Let's see your birth year set or sets.
I did one with all PCGS P-D-S set.
Last Christmas I broke it down to 3 giving each one of my children a sub set.
Then I for some reason did one in ANACS small white slabs but only 5 coins. 1944 Birth set C.jpg 1944 ANACS Birth Year Set.jpg

I'm 1944 also, but have only one slabbed coin from that year. I have Mom's & Dad's too, slabbed 1920 WLHs and 1924 Peace $s.

I've got a few US proof sets from 1963 that I picked up for silver value, but I'm not a big fan of those designs, and I'm not a world-coin collector. Might be more interested in someday doing a set for my father's birth year (1928).

Edit to add: but not my mother's birth year, 1930. I though about doing sets for them some time back, and realized that hers would have been a bit small...

Haha mine would be 2005! No point bothering with that!

I'm hearing a faint echo of someone saying, fifty years ago, "mine would be 1955, no point bothering with that..." ;)

But that means I have to wait 50 years until it's worth something. That's a lot of time of me holding on to some coins and hoping that they become valuable.

    1941
    21 coins.
Too many coins to post between the business strikes and proofs.
So I did a list and just the two 50¢ proofs.

    1¢ Lincoln Wheat
All three business strikes are MS-66RD.
    The proof is PF-66RD

    5¢ Jefferson
All three business strikes are MS-65 FS.
    The proof is PF-66.

    10¢ Mercury
All three business strikes are MS-65 FT.
    The proof is PF-65.

    25¢ Washington
All three business strikes are MS-65.
    The proof is PF-66.

    50¢ Walking Liberty
All three business strikes are MS-65.
There are two varieties of proofs:
    -- with AW PF-66
    -- without AW PF-65.

As I understand it, some of the 1941 proof dies were created by polishing up some of the dies used for business strikes.
The polishing process removed the designer's initials.

(Hmmmm, don't know why the "with initials" image won't post. Shows up when I insert it but not when I post it!?)

Hmm. I did a little macramé on the URL and was able to see it -- but now I also see it in my quoted response to you. Let me see if this shows up.

Wow. I've seen this happen with XenForo before, but not sure what's behind it. I'm going to try copying and pasting the image:

That's remarkable. Can I save a local copy, upload that, and have it display?

    kangas-unpostable-image.jpg

Edit: okay, this one shows up, even when I look at the post from a different machine. I think that's got it. I have no idea why the original wouldn't display, and I won't be able to dive into the esoteric stuff any time soon.

But the coin was worth the work. :)

I like the listing that they included their parents. Mine were both born in 1925 and my wife (she'll kill me for listing this) is 1949. I've done mine already. I thought I would have mine graded, mainly to protect them. Then I may start with my children, 1970, 1971, and 1975...not too hard, but getting the coins in those years are easier and cheaper than getting gold coins, which I buy about 2 per year.
