Thanks. I don't think this one will happen. Turns out there's another 17th century medal I have my eye on, though... Of course my chances at that one may be similarly slim. I suppose I could always console myself with an affordable Hogmouth minor coin, though... It's fun inviting y'all to look over my shoulder as I window-shop.
Lordmarcovan/ I will be on the sidelines too You know it feels real crappy to have sit out all the upcoming auctions. My problem I got "unemployed" four weeks earlier then normal, due to getting snowed out. So instead of blowing leaves/ cleanup work/ I sat at home and you guessed went overboard on 15 auctions, spent 45K and now have zero dollars to spend on coins till next March. What a bummer! But at least it will be Christmas everytime the mailman brings a registered letter to my house John
Resurrecting this thread, as I happen to own one of these. I agree the design is a real work of art. I love the history behind it as well. There are many medals commemorating the retaking of territory from the Ottomans and they are all fascinating. PCGS MS64.
Oh, wow… all that, and toning, too! Thanks for the thread resurrection. I’ve sort of kept this design in the back of my head. Might grab one someday. My financial circumstances are a tad better than they were 6+ years ago when I posted this thread.
Beautiful coins! All are for victories against the Ottoman empire, it looks like. You could fill an entire collection with hundreds of coins and medals on this topic. It's really fascinating.
