So the only thing you're guaranteed to get is one Jamaican halfpenny, is that right?

Look at the one they show. I have sold better looking examples of that type in my ten-cent bin during my antique mall dealer days. OK, they weren't in a WTC Ground Zero slab, so you can add in the curiosity value of that, FWIW.
Still doesn't add up to anything near 99 bucks, in my opinion.

The upside of those Big Three prizes is fantastic, but with the downside being the high likelihood of ending up with a ten-cent coin in a ten-dollar slab after paying 99 bucks, I don't like those odds. That's just me.

Best of luck, gamblers. More power to ya!

True, the odds DO look better than a lot of lottery items.

Sure the odds are better than the lottery but the odds are still against you.

I hope I am misunderstanding things but it sounds very anti-climatic if you don't get to see the actual coin at the time of opening. Sounds more like waiting for my College degree to pay off then a spin of the roulette wheel. james

To the contrary, the lucky folks who reveal a coin in a red core will have much anticipation for two weeks!

True indeed, but like you, I will continue to sit on the sidelines and watch the fellows have a blast....:)

Sidelines for me also, saving up for the next missing or upgrade coin, but I will watch and hope all of the CTers bring home a big prize!

In short it's a $100 raffle buy in and at bare minimum all 15k will receive a Jamaican half penny from ground zero vault in a PCGS slab and a "possible" redemption code. It's a 2% chance to get a gold coin out of it.

I'm surprised they're doing one like this because I have a feeling a lot of people won't even understand what they're getting until they arrive.

Well…. I don’t do lotteries. Don’t even know how they work. I just know the guys filling out those cards hold me up at the gas station….. Never played the scratch off cards. None of that stuff…. I played blackjack once on a cruise with my wife and won $150.00. Took my daughter once to a casino and dropped twenty bucks in a machine. Bells and lights went off and we had $680.00….. So maybe I have beginners dumb luck. I am going to buy one.

    Good luck, Randy!

I won $500 on a $2 lottery scratchoff ticket once. Considering I spend <$20 a year on scratchoff tickets and the most I’ll ever spend at one time is around two bucks, I reckon I’m ahead. But that’s about the extent of my gambling.

I have one question, and I think I know the answer, but here goes. The day of the sale. Does one go to the buy link or the Mega Chase link. Also, like the USMint website, does it prohibit you from clicking on theat link until the start time? Well, I guess that is 2 questions.

You use the buy link and you can get in to the queue before the sale. Once the sale starts, a little timer slider goes across and then, voila!, you’re at the order page.

Just FYI this doesn't necessarily save you. Depends on where it scrambles you in line when it starts. I've gotten in and had them sell out before I could complete checkout twice. There's a lot of these so they may last longer but will have more people willing to play too. I might throw in for a couple. Wonder what household order limit will be.
