Ok I have never made a official thread before and I haven't seen a thread like it I thought I'd help clear out some clutter on the paper money forum and focus it into one thread. I work retail and handle 10's of thousands dollars every week fortunately my boss doesn't mind if I go through them. On occasions I get lucky but most of the time it's so close on serial numbers. I want to make this thread for others who are like me that work retail or strap search that gets ALMOST but not quite there. For example.
For all those out there like me who have that kind of luck and who like to have fun with "almost" notes please post them here.
Good idea for a thread. But for me, it drives me crazy when I find a "almost" fancy serial number! I get rid of it right away
True. What gets me mad are those silly ebay sellers who sell "almost" fancy serial numbers and get away with it. Truthfully, I think they are all worth face value!
I personally have never got away with anything, I have placed honest auctions, but I do post ebay listings that include almost listings such as these, If others like these listings then thats their business right?
Fine I just think there are already said and done set rules for fancy serial numbers. Anything else is just plain silly. Enjoy your finds PS.. It is almost like people selling Post Mint Damaged coins as errors when they are not! What are those, "almost" errors
I believe there is a difference between faked errors and notes that are one or two serial numbers from being fancy. I agree that most of the "almost" notes are interesting at best, but some collectors like them. The first note I posted was a circulation find, and the second note I bought from the BEP as a Lucky Money note, and just happened to get an interesting serial number. I do not purchase or seek out "almost" fancy serial numbers. Collect what makes you happy.
OK back to what I intended this thread to be. I actually would like to see some other ALMOST notes..no debate on whether they are worth money or not.
Yes there is. http://coolserialnumbers.com/FancySerialNumbers.aspx Also.. Bookends, flippers and birthday serial numbers.
Ok paddyman98 your right, real "serial numbers" are there and to the die hard the ones worth keeping.http://coolserialnumbers.com/FancySerialNumbers.aspx. For everybody that looks at this thread please note that only this link is truly valuable serial numbers. Otherwise just post your Almost
I almost hit a $6 Million Super Megabucks jackpot at the Riviera, but I missed it by one click on the old mechanical 4-reeler. Chris
