Never been an error guy. Picked this up somewhere along the way and forgot about it until I bumped into it this afternoon. If memory serves, I gave less than two bucks for it untold years ago. With error collecting being such a growing part of numismatics, are these desirable at all?
Yeah I mean it's a pretty major error. It would be worth more it it had a date. But other than that they are very collectible. I love errors but for the sake of affordability I try to stick to off center strikes as they are my favorite type of error to collect.
Nice off center, @Randy Abercrombie. I agree with @Evan8 that off centers are comparatively more affordable than many other types of errors, such as die caps and brockages. Yet they are great to look at, and even non-collectors appreciate them. Yes, my favorites are off centers and double struck.
One of my LCS's sell them for about $6.00 but I've never bought any because the errors I'd like to own are a bit on the expensive side.
It should not be.. That is a true Off Center strike. About 50%.. You are thinking of a Misaligned Die Strike where the Obverse would be slightly off center and the reverse is centered. 2 totally different issues.
I broke the cardinal rule of CT with that one.... Being an early guy I can’t open the safe without waking the wife. And that wouldn’t be very fun.... I’ll snap a photo this evening for you.
