    you mean like, your not "allowed" to melt silver coins, or its not possible?

    b/c last year I found this silver coin in a parking lot, it has a plastic case around it and says Eckards or something on the front. on the back, it says something like 'one ounce pure silver' . its heavy.
    should i sell it or melt it or neither?

    Last I knew, melting silver coins was legal, the ban on melting nickels and pennies is recent.
