is a fingerprint being seen in(not on)the coin a known error? I hadn’t ever heard that. I have seen Lincoln cents that definitely appeared to have a fingerprint but I never inspected close enough to see if the print was just on the surface. I had never read that was something to look for. Thanks very much for a helpful comment

I don’t come here and pretend to be any kind of expert, my comment, “I know it’s not PMD“ is nothing but an issue of semantics. I spoke wrongly using the word know, when I should’ve said, “really don’t think”. I still don’t understand how the rim line of a coin that is solid metal already gets moved and stays smooth like that, and then sticks back to the side of the coin that confuses me if that doesn’t happen during the minting process, when the metal is soft, it totally just doesn’t seem logical to me. That’s all.

I’m upfront about my being very much a novice at this(even though I’ve been doing it(at various levels of involvement during different times, certainly not professionally or singularly), for about 15 years I know that’s nothing compared to people out there that have been doing it for more than twice that long. I come here for that reason. I know those people are here and I come here, hoping for their generosity, in helping out a novice. I don’t come here to get smart ass comments. I don’t deserve them. If I was pretending to be an expert when I’m not, or acting like a know it all, then yes, I would deserve the trolling. I definitely don’t deserve the treatment.
