Would you rather pay $5,000 for this monster black band or do customer pick up for the 5,000 lbs. Yap stone that it was wrapped around? Sellers item located at the dock of the bay, Island of Yap, West Pacific Ocean.
Considering that you'd probably get arrested on trying to remove the stone, I'd go with the tube. Would you rather be forced to collect only pre-18th century Islamic coins, or have every book in your library be in a language you can't read?
I'll go with the books. It would be a huge undertaking to learn to read a few new languages, but an exciting challenge as well.
The books, but that's because you said nothing about being forced to read them. I'd shelve them/not use them and go on collecting the coins I like vs being forced to collect something I don't like....ie the Islamic coins.
It could be slabbed. All you have to do is place it on a sheet of steel and weld a steel frame to the steel sheet with steel arms projecting from the frame to the coin. then bolt down a thick sheet of lucite over the front of the frame. After the crane sets the frame upright on the concrete base, you simply de-weld the steel sheet in the back snd bolt some lucite sheet to it. Now you can see all the details on both sides. All you need now is a TPG to grade it and wrap a bow around it.
So would you rather have the patent for Yap stone encapsulation technology or the entire Michael Bolton AND Air Supply collection? WOW!
