The problem is well known and the fact that the spots often develop after slabbing has been documented many times over.

As for what causes the milk spots, nobody knows, the wash idea is just a theory.

My guess - any of the modern dollar coins made with the manganese alloy.

soon people will realize that penalizing milk spots and blood spots is also like toning .

I didn't quite get what you were saying. Did you say the people working with modern coins at various U.S. Mints
Drink Milk of Manganese and some got into the wash bath with coins? :foot-mouth:

Disclaimer. I just had to write this for two reasons.
First to be a smart rear. 2nd, I had to drink some milk of mag and also 3 pints of Chalky Barium for tests.

When I opened all the bottles before my C-T scan today looks like the same stuff that are on the coins.

BTW: My yearly Bowel Checkup yesterday went very well thank you.
I can understand if this stuff came into contact with coins.

Please guys the backdoor scope doesn't hurt one bit and will save your life. I just read my local papers today and saw I lost a longtime friend from Cancer down there.
This is the reason I edited my post. Wow. Rest in Peace my Pro Bowling buddy of 40 years. Age 60 and gone didn't even know he was sick :(

I see BadThad has contributed to this thread. Wonder if he has ever checked the reason for the milk spots? Hmmm...

I wonder what the long term impacts of this will be on coin collecting as the ASEs are (maybe were) a "gateway" series.
