Congrats!!!! I remember buying my 1909-S V.D.B a little over a year ago and it was my first as well. It was very exciting at the time that I bought it from Eagle Eye Rare Coin as I too had wanted one of these ever since I started collecting Lincolns as a kid. Even to this day, every time I look at the coin the feeling is still there. Even though they are fairly common and not really that rare, the 1909-S V.D.B. is a very special coin to many of us... congrats again!!!!
GREAT!!! Nice addition my friend! Congrats Nothing better than the feeling of accomplishment and joy.
That is great! Congratulations on getting that coin you've always wanted. I did that with a key piece for my Conder collection and the euphoria lasts a long time. Bravo!
Congratulations Gopher. Nothing warms a coin collector's heart more than finally getting that 'one' coin you have been long looking for! You'll will soon forget what it cost you, and what will remain is the joy of ownership. The 1909 s-vdb is also a coin which I 'had' to have- I am just glad I bought mine 22 years ago. Enjoy!
Congrats on getting that one key piece! It must be a nice feeling! I am working on a Lincoln set but I am not sure that I will ever buy a 1909 S VDB. I just can't justify spending that much on a single coin. The same reason I don't have any gold or early American issues, I just can't imagine paying more for a coin then was paid for our Jeep! Maybe I will win the lottery or something something and be able to buy all these coins instead of just reading and dreaming about them...hey, I can hope, right? Hmm, now that I think about it, I would be happy to have a plain old 1909 VDB or a 1909 S (minus VDB)! I do feel that I got a pretty good deal, a few years ago...mid 1990s sometime...I snagged a 1909 IHC and a 1909 Lincoln for a grand total of $1.00. Neither wore an S though!
Way to go! I know how it felt when I got mine a few years ago - it grades out at VF! Soon you will find that it was well worth what you paid - and just maybe, it will go up in value! Yeah, I used to agree, and for the most part, I don't pay very much for alot of my coins. On the S VDB what I did was buy a roll or two of quarters each week that I could. I just put those back, kindof like a savings account at the bank. After a little while you will have enough set back to buy a really nice coin like an S VDB. Speedy
Nice way to achieve your childhood dream. Good going. I just completed my Peace $ set with a 1928 P, but I still don't have my favorite childhood set of Mercury dimes full. I found every dime except the 1916 D and the 1931 S as a kid. I bought the 31S years ago and now is the time to get me a 16D. If I can swing the $$s I'll be going to the San Francisco mint show in November to look for one. Of course, there are so many top notch coins to get there...We shall see. Bruce
