It was a status symbol, and that rock definitely wasn&#039;t moved. The tribe that took over the territory would own the rock. Of course, Easter Island is quite far from Yap Island, but it&#039;s thought that Polynesians settled on Easter Island. The value placed on rocks seems to have been brought over with those settlers. Though, this is very distinct from Rai stone money.</p><p><br /></p><p>I believe that the story goes that if you blow into the holes, it&#039;ll make a sound to attract fish or something similar to that effect.
