I originally put in the 1300 EUR maximum bid because I needed a gold coin from the 7th century and that one was the best I could find on the market at the time, but luckily I bought the Umayyad Gold Dinar of al-Malik from 699 for less money, while the Sisebut gold coin was bought by somebody else.

Hopefully my luck will continue tomorrow and somebody will outbid me on the German gold coin from Hamburg and the Afghani mohur of Timur Shah Durrani. :nailbiting:

Baldwin's contacted me and I have made them an offer for the unsold lot I am interested in, hopefully they will accept it. :)

I have no clue who/ but they ruined my day/ I was intent on adding it to my collection of medieval gold coinage.

That coin was from Brabant/ the Liege gold went way higher! Liege coinage had very small mintages. Compared to US gold/ all are a steal!

I know that your coin is from Brabant, I meant the Liege one that sold for 20 something thousand EUR a little before I posted that.

These (Liege) coins are probably known from 2-3 exs. At 20K they are a bargain! I seen US Double Eagles from late 1920s sell for 300K that over 200 graded exs exist. That coin I got yesterday (5 known) and I got it for 2200! Had it been a US coin/ over 1 M+

No/ too modern. I prefer coins struck before 1915/ with some exceptions/ design like 1931 Yugoslavia 4 Dukatu
Croatia 1941 gold coins/ Bulgarian AV 4 Dukaten Ferdinand I / Boris III Danzig AV 25 Gulden 1930/ US St. Gaudens Double Eagles...

In the end I won 4 gold coins at the auction, and I was also pleased to see that several other people from Croatia won lots at the auction. :)
