There has been a misconception here. My over all goal is not to have a sky high post number. I merely noticed the number as a whole went down! Someone on here posts their number but I never have and have kept very quiet about the # as I don't much care about it. I'll say this with coming back sooner or later. I left a political forum a couple months ago and I said I'll be off for atleast 3 weeks and guess what I haven't been on since January at all!! As for you Midas I'm not even gonna go their with that garbage as it is completely false. You are completely right Bacchus the hobby does need young people. I have decided this now. I will put up a poll...

I'm really not trying to be a smart aleck, but I think I've missed something.

I really enjoy this forum, and am pleased it was available when the Coin World forum closed down.

However, I have noticed several members announcing they were quitting, and moving on.

Here's what I don't understand. Why announce anything? If you have a question, ask it. If you have an answer to supply, or knowledge to share, then do it.

What's the big deal? If you enjoy the forum, then participate. If you have problems, find another forum or get some other sort of life.

I guess what I'm trying to share is this...Life is too short to worry about petty baloney on a forum. If you enjoy this coin forum as I do, that's great. Otherwise, just move on.

    :) :)

Ya know... Nos, if I had something to hide from my posts of "subliminal messages" and "consipiracy theories" or whatever you like to refer to them as, I would have a problem with this sentance:
"I can tell when my welcome as a whole is up and when there are in fact CONSPIRACIES to rid me and this is shown forth with things such as subliminal-like messaging as seen on this thread at the third post on this page:
    http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=5892&page=2"

But I really have nothing to hide, I don't know if your trying to turn me into the bad guy or what, but, as long as they read that entire thread then they will take notice that I was speaking generally in that instance, nowhere in any of my posts have I said the the younger collectors are faulty, I'm a younger collector for christs sake... Perhaps you were reading what you wanted to hear, and not what I wrote.
Your departure is entirely up to you as most have said, don't do like I did months ago and say " well they ran me out " because it's bull, and I realise that was not entirely true, I walked away. No one on this board is out to get anyone, no conspiracy theories flying around... Do you realise how lame that sounds? Yes... I can see everyone in the corner whispering and planning to attack... That's not the way this forum is run, and you should take notice to that. That's all i've got to say, as I said, it's entirely up to you if you leave...

P.S. : I as many will dissagree with a person if in fact they make A-OK remarks to matters such as cleaning coins/ Ironing notes / Repairing notes, etc etc. Whatever the case may be. There are many members on this forum, most of which who have differant back grounds, there are always going to be dissagreements.

I think many here have made some very good points.

I am curious as to what new name you may be posting under in the near future. Not sure that is what will happen but have to say that I have seen that Many Many times..

Are people actually padding their number of posts? What would that accomplish? The whole point of the forum is to talk to others who share this hobby and to learn, so why would it matter if you have 100,000 posts or 1?

Happens on every forum out there. Some feel superiority comes in numbers. I really never understood why forums shows these #'s anyways. I never post to accumulate #'s, I post a lot because I don't know when to shut up! :p

One forum I used to visit actually rewarded members with large amounts of posts with stupid rankings and even offered limited edition collectibles with the lowest edition numbers going to the members with the most posts, etc.!!! All this did was make members stretch a single good post into many small, worthless 2-3 word ones just to watch the numbers climb as fast as possible.

Take away the numbers and you eliminate the practice! ;)

Can we get away from all this needless mud-slinging and accusations (sp?) on this thread and many others and get back to the hobby we all love!!!!!

Russell,I am in agreement with other members who have posted in this section. There is no conspiracy to turf you (or any other member) off the board,& besides, the number of postings doesn't really matter,as it is not a measure of intelligence at all.You should
think very hard.I wouldn't leave the board if I were you.

    Aidan.

Those are some good points indeed PennyCase. As for you JoeMoney if you were quite familiar with how I wrote you would quickly see through any assumed identity I created. I will not be returning here for a minimum of 2 full weeks after this date of April 5th, not even to check a post one bit. I will say it again, I do not really care about the post number, I merely noticed the number go down! You also make a good point Aidan but things need to tone back down here and the best way to help accomplish that is if I leave for two weeks if not longer. :)
