Ok, I am being a bit modest, I really like this coin A recent addition. (My brutally clear pictures shows every little detail of the surface, including the fine roughness). Nero 54-68. Ae As Lugdunum 64-67. Obv: Bare head right Rev: Genius standing with patera and cornucopia sacrificing over altar. RIC 533
Thank you guys. When I saw it at the last auction in Frabkfurt I just knew I had to have it. Glad it did not cost me an arm and a leg.
Yes, really nothing special to it...... ....apart from an exceptionnal style on the engraving on both portrait and reverse. Excellent coin. Not even worth mentioning Q
Beautiful coin! The fine roughness has no impact, at least to me. It just makes it look like what it is: ancient.
That piffling bit of roughness that doesn't take anything at all away from a lovely coin. Really nice style on both sides.
This is a stunning coin, and even more to its credit, it appears to have zero tooling and little if any smoothing. I much prefer slightly rough, natural surfaces to overly smoothed fields. The centering is excellent on both obverse and reverse, and Nero's portrait is one of the more artistic and well engraved you'll see on AEs. If it was also a bargain, so much the better!
