not sure what I have here on this 2000 penny...

    Is it sticky?? If it's sticky then I would say it might be an adhesive of some sort or maybe even bubble gum. If it's not sticky then I would have no idea.

    The letters are backwards and incused into the field. Someone pressed another Cent into it most likely with a vise. This is called a sandwich or vise job. The 2000 Cent is Copper plated zinc so the area in question that looks peeled is because the damage that was caused exposed the zinc underneath.

    Not to worry; now that the clad has been pierced, that Cent won't recognizable any more in ten years.
