If your coins were struck on any planchet other than the designated silver war nickel ones, the coins would have a different weight. You stated in the opening post that they weigh the same as normal war nickels. Case closed. It's good to investigate stuff like this but don't get your hopes up. Especially if you think you have two extremely rare error coins.
They aren't steel, they are 35% silver war nickels... They don't look like steel, they don't weigh what steel would weigh, and you thinking that they are steel will not change the fact that they are regular 35% silver.
2.75 grams - Belgium 2 Franc coin was minted only with the 1944 date, no 1943's https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces3103.html https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/belgium-2-francs-km-133-1944-cuid-1042689-duid-1309030 Steel cents weigh 2.80 grams War nickels weigh 5.00 grams https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces102829.html 1944 Belgium 2 Francs were struck in error at the Philadelphia mint on silver planchets meant for Netherlands 25c coins - those are the real rarities
The 1944 Belgium 2 franc weighs exactly what a 1943 U.S. cent does, 2.8 grams. Both standard AND silver mix nickels are ALL 5.0 grams.
A lot less than a nickel of any material. Same size and weight as a us steel penny which is what was used to make them.
@Noel Field Your don't have anything struck on a foreign planchet here is a link to find info on foreign coins made by the US Mint. If you go to the bottom of this site, there's a link to an large spreadsheet https://minterrornews.com/news-5-13-03-foreigners_in_the_mint.html SCREEN SHOT showing how to get to the spreadsheet Once you start looking at the size/weight/compositions, it will be apparent that you don't have one. However, it is a cool list with a whole lot of info.
In threads past I've broken down a number of questionable claims made by this clown, who now seems more concerned with posting click bait and gaining subscribers than he is with sharing only solid information. Sadly, this isn't any surprise, nor is it that yet another newbie has apparently been misled by his self-serving antics.
Thank you all, for your time and shared knowledge. Hopefully, my next post, will result in a more positive direction. I look forward to your input on it as well.
