Not quite sure what I have stumbled upon

    I have what appears to be a penny that has never been stamped, its almost double the thickness and has absolutely no markings. What do you think?

    I agree. A piece of unstamped metal is not a coin. Proving it is a coin blank is pretty hard. You said its double thickness, so pretty much by definition it will not be a US coin blank.
