When it comes to coins of the Roman Empire, along with Greek kings and cities, there is certainly a large and varied selection of issues shown on Wildwinds. In fact, it is one of the first places I go to when searching for some general information about any particular coin and I definitely want to give kudos to Dane Kurth for all her work In all the years I've been using the site I had not come across a coin from a Greek city not mentioned on the site ... until now. Kassope Epeiros Ae ; 342-325 BC : 19mm, 6.2gms Obv: KA(ΣΣΩΠAIΩN); Head of Aphrodite right wearing stephane Rev: Dove flying right within laurel wreath I have a feeling some of the folks here may have coins from other Greek cities that aren't shown. Maybe Dane can use this info to update the site.
COOL IDEA @Brian Bucklan ! This is not Greek, nor really Italian. They are not sure where the Etrurians truly imigrated from: Asia, Greek Islands, or even from Central Europe. I could not find this in Wildwinds... perhaps I missed it: Etruria Populonia AR 1 As 0.60g 10.0mm after 211 BCE Male Head L - Plain Rev Vecchi 3 68-70 HN Italy 181 Described as: EXTREMELY RARE
