    Seems unhealthy to strike coins in lead/ ugly metal but also toxic! Not much is known from that area.

    That is what I was thinking as well, and the Khmer Empire was a very rich country, so that makes it even crazier!

    You are correct/ seems that design stayed in vogue for 500 years!
