One of my peeves with modern US coins is the lack of relief (or poor design), but I think the Everglades quarter does well in both respects. A bright UNC coin from change--shot with my camera setup to control highlights and maximize details. That's it, no errors/varieties--although a doubled die on the 'cormorant' (correction: anhinga) would look really cool! Click to blow-up details.
How you were able to crop it like that, I spend hours doing it by hand and it looks pretty bad. What program do you use? Nice photo (and coin) for sure!
Thanks...I use photoshop for cropping (circ marquee tool) and post-processing of images. Coin was shot in ISO64, RAW to maximize detail.
I've used photoshop and other Adobe programs in a professional capacity for 20 years--that's why I have it--use whatever works for you.
Most of the AtB's have great relief on the reverse, but not the obverse. All I can say about the Everglades quarter is, what were they thinking, no alligator?
I have noticed that on them, I think Washington's hair looks better, in the State Quarter series his hair looked like spaghetti.
