Hello everyone I bought a lot of Ron's Roman coin several years ago in this lot there was one single silver coin which I will present to you today. I would like any information about this coin as I am unable to determine which emperor this is as well as the commemoration on the reverse of the coin. The coin is made of silver, or debased silver. The coin weighs 2.9 G, and is 17 mm in diameter. Any information is greatly appreciated. Sorry for my ignorance, but I generally collect Southeast Asian pieces. https://bashify.io/i/UPoNnD https://bashify.io/i/UPoNnD https://bashify.io/i/4eB8jO
It must be a follis or pseudo-argenteus of Licinius I (308-324 CE). The style looks like the Arelate mint (Arles, France). Here is one specimen in excellent condition, so you can check... (not my coin)
Would a follis be silver ? I bought this as an unclean coin and it was black at the time. I Cleaned it a bit and it was silver. Since then , about 3 years, the silver has turned black again. I bought 200 uncleaned coins, only this one was in silver.
