Is there any way to estimate the value on a Morgan VAM that is NOT on the Top 100 or Hot 50 list? I've only seen price lists for these types of Morgan VAMs (and the Top 50 Peace values). The VAM book assigns "I" and "R" numbers for the Interest to VAM collectors and Rarity of the coin (I 1 through 5, R 1 through 8). If it has low "I" and "R" numbers, I'm happy just being able to assign a VAM number to it. If they are high numbers, I'd like to get an idea of the value. I don't want to sell anything... need to make decisions like.... does it get a cardboard flip or an airtite, is it going in the safe or the safety deposit box, in the "good" box or the "super" box, do I wear gloves or check it out while enjoying a cold beer.

I just found a very worn 1892-O VAM-12A. It has part of the 9 duplicated in the hair and severe overlapped reeding. It is listed as I-5 and R-6. This is the top number for INTEREST to collectors, and the R-6 means it's estimated there are only hundreds in existence. Not on the price lists, so I check eBay for comparisons. Not on eBay, so I do some searches for other private websites. No luck. Anywhere else I can search?

Someone once told me that anything I-3 R-4 or better has a 25% premium. I'd love to hear more specific numbers. I know a lot of it is driven by the demand of collectors, but the VAMs already have some numbers assigned to them.
