As my screen name implies, I get my money from my pocket change. However, I make a point to get a lot of it - If I go to three different stores, I will use bills each time to maximize metallic accumulation. And I know it's an old saw, but it sure does add up. Of course, I'm not buying MS-69 Morgans :)

I to make sure I get lots of change back from daily transactions. My wife wants to give me the exact change to give to the cashier but I just give her the "look" and say, remember, I'm a coin collector!

Even get to look through the kids easter egg change from grandma's massive 15 grandchildren 500 egg hunt. It's fun to sit down with the kids and sort.

I am not sure I understand this, uhm, no buying concept. :) I mean if when I am saving -like for a vacation, then I just stick to auctions. And yes I might only bid $75 on a VF problem free draped bust cent - but hey if I win it was worth it. Now if a major show would just get near me, then I might have to do some saving for it.

Not buying - what a shocking concept!:)

I love buying on online auctions but getting out to a show, major or small, is much more fun. You meet some nice people and can get up close and personal with the coins your buying. Heck, I just get excited driving to the show.

Difficult for me to save up for a coin show. Just to many around here. There are 3 coin shows a month regularly in the area. Two of them are of about 30 or so dealers and one of about 80 to 100. All three are within about 14 miles of me. Then there are the occationally really big US coin ones, the international ones, the paper currency shows, coin dealers at flea markets and many coin stores or stores with coin counters. For example coming up April 26 to 29 is the Chicago International Coin Fair. Way to snobish but since I can almost walk there I always go.

my goals are modest at this point in my collection career. i can afford to drop $50 or so at a show this weekend and then again in June at Baltimore. my Memorial cent collection in MS should be pretty affordable ;)

I have found, the less you have the more it can be streched. A $50 spot can go a long way on BU memorials, plus lots of other Proof and BU 20th century coins.

Have fun at the show steve.
