I know a guy who would go to shows and buy all the bags of wheaties he could get (at the end of the show, no dealers wanted to carry them so he got great deals). He sat on them for a decade or so and then sold them for a pretty penny (ha,ha).
Anyhoo the mint will have to stop this thing of spending .06 for a .05 coin, they will change the composition sooner rather than later. As for me I like those 2 cent pennys (pre1982), and toss them into a jar whenever I think of it.

There are no such thing, unfortunatly. There is no bank in USA which has an interest rate even covering current inflation (2002-present). Besides IRS does not recognise inflation losses and tax you on that pity banks pay you.
I was told one could find Indian Heads in change in 1955-1965. I bet one could hoard a whole bunch of them ( AND nice shiny wheats) in 1930s. Now calculate what that penny could bring if deposited in savings account.

this overpriced magazine that i get is selling 2 $2 rolls D&P of the first new special nickels for $30 and the other nickels for $10 for 2 rolls. They really didnt mint too many of those nickels...... but still, $30 is at least a $20 ripoff

do you mean hoarding modern pennies or what the value of the wheats and indian head would be? i would find it kind of ridiculous to collect modern day pennies. They make like 4 billion pennies a year now.... but i kinda get your drift:p
