Should the Nickel go clad? Source: https://www.usacoinbook.com/coin-melt-values/ https://www.dailymetalprice.com/metalpricecharts.php
Wouldn't matter. The cost last year to make a clad quarter was 8.62 cents. A nickel is .87 the size of the quarter so .87 X 8.62 cents means a clad nickel would cost about 7.49 cents apiece. The actual cost last year for the solid coppernickel alloy nickel was 7.42 cent apiece. So to make them clad would actually make the cost go UP .07 cents apiece.
