A Difficult Type Coin To Grade!

Your photos were nice, as is your beautiful coin which I thought might be a twin to my MS67: slq24d67.jpg . The 1930-S is also an MS67 grade, but has a "full head" designation. I tried to load head images of the 2 coins but the system locked my post every time I tried to load the second and third images. This 1924-D MS67 coin has greater head detail than some Gem FH designated coins in my collection.

I've many Gem Standing Liberty Quarters in many dates/mints/grades, virtually all having FH designation so that I might try to determine grading standards for this type coin, after significant research to locate a SLQ legitimate recognized grading document. It appears there isn't a grading standard, which was my conclusion.

I seemingly found with the exception of the 1917 SLQ there appears to be virtually. no rhyme or reason for the FH designation applied by the TPG. I can show numerous examples of Gem SLQ coins not having the FH designation that have more head detail than FH specimens I can supply.

From what I've observed in your images of a type coin that has such varying convoluted detail that makes the coin difficult to examine by scope when jigged, is a beautiful specimen that I believe to be undergraded.

I hope that you learn the varying intricacies of this complex design coin which unlike any other I've studies lacks consistency in production. The only other coin which I've studied to realize similar design/production problems is the 1907 St. Gaudens Double Eagle..

    Enjoy! Rich :thumb:

P.S.: Upon viewing a Preview Post, it appears that the loading system allowed a "Full Head" distorted image of the 1930-S SLQ MS67 to be attached, so that a CAC approved full head can be observed.
