I saw that and called them about the Kennedy Silver medal it's the same size as the ASE and they said no. I sent it in and it's a MS70. I'll post photo when I get back

I happen to like the black retro holder for certain coins. Gold and "golden dollars" look exceptionally nice in the holder. I also like ASE silver reverse proofs in the holder.

2 years ago, I had a couple Morgans put in those holders. I'm not as fond of the match.

    Options are always good.

In the previous offerings, wasn't this limited to bullion coins?

If so, adding Sac's (i.e. Native American), Presidentials, and First Spouse is different!

Hopefully, PCGS does NOT follow suit since differentiating slab styles is a little more difficult on the CU Side.

In the past it was limited to bullion and the small golden dollars, unless you were an authorized dealer, then you could submit Morgan and Peace dollars as well. This time they are letting the rank and file submit Morgans and Peace dollars as well, but only common dates.

And PCGS did follow suit two years ago with a retro Doilie holder. It apparently didn't go over well and has not been heard from since.

Why are only common dates eligible...?

You'll have to ask NGC, it makes no sense to me unless there is something less than archival about the new black inserts.

I REALLY wish $2 1/2 coins were eligible. I would be sending a bunch. I am about to get a couple Kennedy reverse proofs together for it though...

@dwhiz , that's my fav. bullion combo: rev. proof in a black retro. Very Sharp!

I may just have to join NGC to send in my 2013 Proof and 2013 Reverse Proof Buffalo's. The gold and black contrast looks great.

Congrats on the 70! I just sent 5 in this morning... how good did your 69's look? Any visible flaws with the naked eye, or could you only see spots with a loupe?

  19. LJRambo111

    LJRambo111 ASE Proofs / 24K Buffalos

I saw some rub marks only with the loop. Kinda like very light scratches. a couple had spots. I was really nervous about this one. I guess its because I want a complete set.

Wow what a deal I was getting them for about 68.00 a set. Gotta say though some flipper really lost out. I only need one more to finish me PF70 set. I will be sure to load up on that one too.

I might buy more Johnsons on ebay and turn in a heck of a lot for grading, maybe 25 - 30 sets.
