NGC label buyback program: Another reason to crack out old NGC holders

Well, at first I thought this all was much ado about nothing, considering that to mail in one it costs enough in stamps to basically make you 1 cent on the deal. But evidently there are lots of collectors that have a bunch to send in and it's a good thing to be able to verify the coin is no longer slabbed by NGC if they have the label.

And yes, for some this could definitely change the game in what the pop is and all. So more power to them. But really, I would think that it would be worth at least a dollar in credit each for them back.

I know I look at population reports when looking up the average price for a coin and try to predict whether that coin will appreciate in value. Coin collecting is fun, but so is making money.

Wish pcgs do the same as I got more of their labels. Actually a good idea I always save the labels when I bust em out and is cause I don't agree with the grade

Can we turn this into a "Which is Better: NGC or PCGS? " thread? Because this just screams NGC...I mean, after all, they are willing to take less profit to assure more accurate pop reports. Nuff said.

IIRC, both NGC & PCGS have had programs like this in the past.

One of the many reasons I've really started to prefer ngc. Pcgs good for certain coins and I like their holders better but ngc is so much better customer service And I like their registry options that allow both

Correct. The 50c bounty for cracked out tags goes way back. PCGS used to send out checks for them.

...drumroll....I clearly stated TOTAL POPULATION, not population at grade level

Why is it some people take pleasure in finding errors in others? You just make yourself look, well, slow. Would it be an appropriate observation that your READING COMPREHENSION is on the same level as my 4yr old?? Should we all throw lettuce at you for being the new forum clown?

There was a thread about this on the CU Forums a couple of days ago.
First it was selectively edited" and then it just disappeared.

Some fella said that PCGS was no longer going to return "crossover" labels and I asked for a link to where that was stated. That post got deleted.

The next day, the whole danged thing was gone!

Now, in the past, PCGS DID have a label buy back program of which I took advantage of so this announcement by NGC was really nothing new.

However, since a certain someone took over the reins, PCGS has gotten fairly tight fisted so I have no idea on whether or not that program is still in place. I expect that it might not be since every nickel counts! Right?

They sure haven't reduced their rates and turnaround time really sucks
